John Lane

John Lane was a producer, theater manager, and longtime steward of the Ogunquit Playhouse. Joining the theater’s leadership in 1950, he later became its owner in partnership with Henry Weller. For decades, Lane helped guide the Playhouse’s artistic and civic life, making it an enduring part of Ogunquit’s identity. In 1994, he transferred ownership to the Ogunquit Playhouse Foundation, helping secure the theater’s future as a nonprofit institution. His influence remains woven into the history of the Playhouse and the cultural life of Ogunquit.
